Charter

The Principal System Architect is a key member of a dedicated team providing a multi-year cloud-based secure file transfer solution for a major US government agency (the “Project”). The Systems Architect is responsible for day-to-day operation of the infrastructure utilized by the solution, in partnership with other technical resources throughout Axway, to ensure all SLAs and client expectations are met or exceeded.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day Cloud technical operational activities, including implementing changes, performing backups, granting user access, managing configurations, ensuring that scheduled jobs are completed, and administering the infrastructure
  • Manage the lifecycle of all requests and problems that arise, driving for root cause of problems to prevent incidents from recurring
  • Monitor overall system stability, health, and performance.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains IT automation scripts
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all of the team’s tools and technologies, and rapidly acquire new skills as the portfolio expands
  • Conduct all technical activities as defined in CTO policies and procedures.
  • Participate in after-hours support and implementation activities as required.
  • Safeguard Axway and Axway customer data through compliance with Axway policies and the appropriate use of Axway equipment and facilities. 

Qualifications

Key Competencies

  • Proficiency with UNIX, LINUX and Windows administration, including shell scripting, working in a complex IT infrastructure(s)
  • Demonstrated experience in network connectivity, communication protocols, VPN, DNS, LDAP, Load Balancing, and network troubleshooting
  • Experience with database systems (esp. Oracle & MySQL), SQL development, and reporting tools
  • Excellent organization skills, ability to work well under pressure, and to meet deadlines
  • Advanced scripting skills (Perl, Python, JSON)
  • Demonstrated in-depth experience troubleshooting IT infrastructure issues
  • Highly motivated self-starter with an aptitude and passion for learning new technologies
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration capabilities
  • Experience with IT Management Systems such as Puppet, Nagios, and Splunk
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally at all levels, both orally and in writing

 

Qualifications

  • At least eight years systems administration experience
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services required.
  • A US citizen or a lawful permanent resident with 3+ years of US residency.

 

Education

  • Technical degree and ITIL Foundations qualification preferred.
